You’re desperate for a summer festival, but haven’t got the funds for any of the biggies. You’ve grafted all year at work, university or school and you need to blow it all off in one weekend of debauchery, but you haven’t got the dollar for Glasto. Never fear. You, like many of us, are in dire need of one of Britain’s many weird, wonderful and downright brilliant boutique festivals.

Where to go?

Name: The Masked Ball  |  Where: Porthleven, Cornwall  |  Price: from £50  |  Music taste: Electronic

There is no better way to kick off you summer 2016 than on the Cornish coast. This weekend sees the 10th anniversary of Summer Masked Ball in Cornwall. A music and arts festival so devilishly decadent, putting in to words what goes on there is albeit impossible.

Let’s begin with the lineup. Over the two days you can expect to hear from huge names such as Basement Jaxx, Ben Pearce, Groove Armada, Jungle and Julio Bashmore all doing their fantastic little thing. Not to mention the many other artists from all walks of music that will be sure to bring variety like no other.

What about the setting – well how does being a stones throw from the Cornish coast sound to you? If the weather is on your side then you really could be anywhere in the world listening to the best DJ’s spinning the best tracks (but even better, you’re still in England, so you can still get a good cup of tea and it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg to use your phone!)

Now I mentioned that Masked Ball is decadent; but that doesn’t even cover it. Yoga Rave, hot tubs, incredible boutique street food and a gigantic, hill-cascading water slide are just a hand picked selection of some of the things you can get up to when you’re down there. One downside to many of the big music festivals is that, aside from the music, there isn’t much else to do. Well at Masked Ball you simply won’t have that problem. Whether you want to dance, eat or relax your hours away, the world (festival site) really is your oyster.

Ticket’s are still on sale at a very handy £65 for Saturday and Sunday, and £90 for the full 3 day weekend. OR, alternatively you can grab a one day ticket for £50! But get them quick because with only 4 days to go until Cornwall’s biggest summer party, they won’t stick around for long.
