Competence with the mic is exactly what Grime MC Young Yizzy, at the refreshing age of 16, is excelling at.
Balancing school books and lyrics, the artfulness of what Young Yizzy has to offer does not go unnoticed. Flooding the timeline with his endless freestyles, such as 1OSMVision Competition video, or joining the likes of myself and other presenters on stations such as Reprezent Radio and Rinse FM, Yizzy aims to carve his capabilities by showcasing live how he brings energy to the new generation of Grime.
When it comes to age being a barrier, nothing intimidates Young Yizzy, enabling him to join the likes of Skepta and Novelist at the IAMNEXT X RILEY event at the Old Blue Last. Not to mention him passing the mic between some of the most upcoming, quality Grime MC’s of this generation, with Vision Crew and CeeJ to name a few.
Yizzy’s creative essence has also allowed him to share his Insanity EP, which dropped in April. From there, endless radio play has taken place on stations such as Westside FM and Radar Radio. If you’ve already had this supreme project on repeat, his latest single “Bodied On A Beat” has created even more of a positive disturbance and recognition has taken over his timeline.
Listening to Grime is one thing, but watching its growth is another. With the likes of photographers such as Ben Walsh wanting to shoot with the Grime Kid, Yizzy shows his effortless capability of communicating with creatives of all types and exchanging passions with some of the most brilliant individuals around.
Genuine excitement and slight curiosity take over when the future of Young Yizzy comes to mind. His exclusive “Grime Kid” drops very soon (with visuals perhaps), but what you think to expect is broken and something even more exceptional is posted for play.
There is definitely something in the Brockley SE4 waters and I’m not sure what. But with talent like Young Yizzy unquestionably throwing incredibly strong Grime our way, to say that he is on the come up is a promise I can keep to you all.
