For those of you waking up this morning you will be hit with two huge news stories.
David Cameron has just announced that he will resign and step down as Prime Minister by October. In a speech this morning outside downing street he said that somebody else will need to lead the UK through this new phase of independence following the UK’s decision to leave the EU.
The United Kingdom has voted to LEAVE the European Union winning by a small majority.
The voting was close:
Leave – 52%
Remain – 48%
The consequences of Brexit are unknown and uncertain but the value of the pound has already plummeted to its lowest point in 30 years causing panic across stock markets internationally.
There are so many questions that need to be answered now but the most important right now are:
What will happen to Britain without the European Union? Who will be the next Prime Minister? Will there be another general election?
