New to NYFW this year is the introduction of pop up shops and pop up galleries. A platform where new and underground artists can display, sell and promote their work to the general public.
What begun as artists and designers simply wanting to get their collections seen, the simple yet effective campaign was adopted by the producers of NYFW, and has since become a highly popular feature.
We caught up with Kelsey Lowe, a sales associate at the The Shops who gave us an overview of the store, citing the freebies and art work by collaborating artist Bradley Theodore. We also caught up with designer Jesenia Lopez and her handcrafted line nmbr09.
Lopez expressed her love for the platform and how it allowed her work to be seen by the masses, make a statement and ultimately get her collections into the public eye.
