Oh yes. Finally. It’s time to remind all the weirdos who say “can’t wait to get all wrapped up for Winter” what is really amazing about Britain. Summer might not mean all round sun but it does mean a bloody good time, so I hope I have your plans sorted.

First up for us, at Spice, is Live at Leeds this weekend with the award-winning metropolitan festival boasting not only one of the best day’s of music but also an amazing showcase of the cities venues. The Wardrobe, Belgrave, Brudenell Social Club and so much more have hosted the start-up gigs to some of the countries best and who knows who will push on from this year’s event to become world beaters in a few years time. And with it being their tenth year of bossing things in Yorkshire, I’m sure there will be a few extra surprises thrown in.

When it comes to the lineups here are my favourites. Circa Waves, Jess Glynne, and Corinne Bailey Rae are the biggest names on the bill and are all certain to draw in massive crowds. CBR, in particular, is going to be an emotional one, the local girl treating it as her homecoming gig as she prepares her newest album and tour, I for one am super excited to hear her new stuff.

Are Circa Waves the biggest indie band in the country right now?

Where newer bands are concerned, Blossoms and Clean Cut Kid are getting a lot of attention and rightly so, they are absolutely brilliant. Both are certain to have massive summers and definitely worth a listen if you haven’t got round to it already. If you are after one under the radar though that I certainly love it is The Sherlocks, only recently had a little look but I have loved them ever since.

And if you want to get away from the bands one man to end your night with perfectly would be Loyle Carner. I saw him at Headrow House earlier in the year and he is one of the most unique rappers in the industry at the moment, getting away from the boring stereotypical lyrics you see from a lot of artists these days. An amazing storyteller who is making me love the genre again.

So it really is set to be a top notch day, they are the experts at this kind of thing so if you’re worried about bouncing around the city don’t be. It is a massive thing for the local area and everyone will be on hand to make everyone is having a belter time. So what a way to start your Summer early.
